It’s getting to that time of year where the cool air of your home becomes something you long for as soon as you step outside. The heat is unbearable and won’t let up until late September at the very earliest. Now, let’s think for a second… what’s the worst thing that could go wrong inside your house during the summer? You guessed it; your air conditioner going out on you is undoubtedly the worst thing that could happen inside your house this summer. So, for the sake of you and your family’s sanity this summer, we have listed four signs that you need to replace your air conditioner before it’s too late.
1. If Your A/C System is Not Working
We know, this seems really obvious, but let’s get the most obvious sign out of the way right off the bat. It’s really simple; if your air conditioner is not working (aka there is no cool air coming out of the vents when your system is running) then it’s time for a new air conditioner. Sure, a repair can help your system last a little longer, but when it isn’t working again two months later in the middle of September you might be wishing that you had it replaced the first time.
2. Your Energy Bill is Unusually High
This one might also seem pretty obvious, but it’s actually pretty common for people to not realize that their increased energy bill might be a sign of a faulty air conditioner. Let’s say your energy bill is usually $100 each month in the summer. Now, when you open your energy bill for the month of June you have a slight heart attack when you see that your bill skyrocketed to $200. Granted, a small increase in your bill isn’t necessarily a sign that your air conditioner needs to be replaced. However, unless you decided to set up dozens of email accounts and stay up 24 hours a day using all of the different email accounts to vote the maximum of 5 times per day for your favorite Astros to make the MLB All-Star game, (that would actually be an honorable cause and very much well worth the $100 increase in your bill) then this large increase is likely a sign that you need to replace your air conditioner.
3. If You Have Said, “Honey, the A/C isn’t working. Can you call the repairman?” so Many Times That you Start Mumbling it in Your Sleep.
Don’t let it go that far. Don’t get us wrong, we love to help you with your air conditioner needs, but if your technician is at your home so often that you start to wonder if you should include them in your family picture for your next Christmas card, then maybe (just a shot in the dark, here) it’s time to get a brand new Lennox Air Conditioner from AirTeam.
4. If Your Air Conditioner is More Than 10-15 Years Old
Your air conditioner deserves a standing ovation (similar to one Dallas Keuchel receives when he walks off the mound after seven inning of shutout baseball) if it’s lasted through 10-15 Texas summers for you. Not that you would literally give a standing ovation to an inanimate object, but you get the point. The Texas summers can be absolutely brutal on your air conditioner, so after 10-15 years it might be time for you to think about buying a new one.
If you see any of these signs with your air conditioner then it is time for you to call your local AirTeam professionals to talk about buying a brand new air conditioner to help you survive the scorching Houston heat.
